Carlin Systems, Inc. began sponsoring the Suffolk Seagulls, UCP of Greater Suffolk's competitive sports team, in 1994. We supplied uniforms to every disabled athlete on three separate sports teams: Indoor Wheelchair Soccer, Powerlifting and Track & Field. We also sponsored a number of their fund-raising events, like the Suffolk Seagulls annual 4 Mile Run. This and other corporate sponsorships enabled these talented, disciplined athletes to travel to compete in regional, national and international tournaments. UCP of Greater Suffolk believes in total independence for individuals with disabilities and we assist and encourage these community role models for their determination and positive attitude!

After our first game against The Suffolk Seagulls Indoor Wheelchair Soccer team, Carlin Systems, inc. presented their squad with our first corporate sponsorship donation. Using wheelchairs to play these talented athletes for the first time was difficult, but we had a great time and decided to play the game annually.

We really like the spirit that these athletes have. Our annual match-ups bring friends and family together for a great time and a good cause. This is a competitive, contact disability sport that pits traveling teams from around the nation against each other to capture two national titles in two divisions of play each year. The Suffolk Seagulls have won 10 NDSA-IWS Championships.

Indoor Wheelchair Soccer combines the elements of basketball, soccer and a splash of hockey, to create a sport that includes virtually all disability groups. The sport is open to male and female athletes within five catagories of disability groups and assigns a number from one to five to each team member based on the severity level, from 1 to 5, five being least severe.

CSI has been especially pleased to support a local organization that provides services right here in our own community. To know that people are receiving the assistance they deserve is quite fulfilling for us.
UCP of Greater Suffolk spend 98 cents of every dollar directly on services right here on Long Island.
